02—Overview
Permian Resources Financial Overview 2021–2025
Updated Nov 4, 2026Permian Resources grew oil and gas sales nearly fivefold in four years, from $1.03 billion in FY2021 to $5.07 billiona in FY2025. Acquisitions, not commodity prices, built that scale. The core thesis is that the company has finished its buying spree's heavy lifting and is now converting size into cash, debt reduction and dividends. Net production climbed from 22,243 MBoe to 143,311 MBoe over the same span, powered by the Colgate merger in FY2022 and the Earthstone merger in FY2023.
The latest year shows both the strength and the strain. Sales rose just 1% in FY2025, because a 14% production gain was nearly erased by a 14% drop in realized oil prices to $64.06b per Bbl. Net income attributable to Class A shareholders slipped to $935.2 million from $984.7 million, partly due to a $270.1 million loss on debt extinguishment. Still, operating cash flow of $3.61 billion covered $1.97 billion of capital spending outright. Long-term debt fell to $3.55 billion from $4.18 billion, and the $2.5 billion revolver sat undrawn. The company also paid $502.9 million in dividends and distributions.
The market priced this at $14.03c per share at the close of FY2025, or 11.0x earnings, for a market capitalization of $10.5 billion. Proved reserves of 1,116,298 MBoe back that valuation, while negative regional gas pricing remains the visible drag.
Recent Developments (Q1 and Q2 2026)
Q2 2026 delivered the sharpest swing: oil and gas sales hit $1.86 billiond, up 55%, as realized oil rose to $97.81 per Bbl from $62.71. Net income reached $792.5 million ($0.93 diluted EPS) versus $245.0 million. Q1 2026 was weaker, with net income of $50.4 million after a $339.9 million derivative loss. Gas stayed negative at $(2.40) per Mcf in Q2 2026.
The balance sheet improved. The company redeemed $550.0 millione of 8.00% notes and reached investment grade at all three agencies. Net debt-to-EBITDAX fell to 0.5x. It raised oil guidance to 199.0 MBbls/d, lifted capex guidance to $1.9 to $2.0 billion, and bought Ward County acreage for $520.0 million on July 31, 2026.
Bull case: $750.8 million of Q2 adjusted free cash flow and low leverage fund growth and dividends. Bear case: earnings depend on oil near $98, and Waha pricing erodes gas value. The stock traded at 15.2x earnings as of the August 5, 2026 report date, not today.
What to watch: Waha gas pricing and curtailments; integration and funding of the Ward County acquisition
