Restaurant Brands International Financial Overview 2021–2025

Updated Nov 4, 2026

Restaurant Brands International's diluted EPS fell to $2.35a in FY2025 from $3.18 in FY2024, a drop of about 26%, even as Adjusted Operating Income rose to $2.584 billion from $2.402 billion. That gap is the story. The franchise engine is still growing, while reported earnings were dragged down by a $209 million foreign exchange loss, the non-recurrence of a $79 million Carrols gain, and a $126 million loss from discontinued Burger King China.

Revenue grew from $5.74 billion in FY2021 to $9.43 billionb in FY2025, helped by the Carrols acquisition. Income from operations slipped to $2.202 billion from $2.419 billion in the latest year. System-wide sales reached $46.76 billion, up 5.3% at constant currency, with comparable sales up 2.4%. All five franchisor segments grew, led by Tim Hortons at $1.077 billion. Operating cash flow from continuing operations rose to $1.714 billion from $1.503 billion.

Leverage remains heavy, with $13.372 billionc of debt principal against $1.163 billion of cash. Shareholder payouts continue, with a $2.60 dividend target for 2026. At the close of FY2025, the shares traded at $68.23, or 29.0x earnings, for a market cap of $23.6 billion. That multiple rests on depressed GAAP earnings, not on weak operations.

Recent Developments (Q2 and Q3 2026)

Burger King drove the recovery in Q2 2026 and Q3 2026. Burger King US comparable sales rose 8.5% in Q2 and 8.4% in Q3, while Popeyes comparable sales fell 5.2% and 1.8%. Popeyes segment income slipped to $58 milliond in Q3 from $63 million. Quarterly revenue reached $2,520 million in Q2 and $2,525 million in Q3. Adjusted Operating Income rose to $737 million in Q3 from $702 million. Net leverage improved to 4.0x from 4.4x. BK China royalties resumed after the 17% joint venture with CPE. Reported EPS of $1.54 in Q3 was lifted by a $133 million tax benefit.

Bull case: comparable sales of 3.8% and 8% organic AOI growth are on track, with guidance reaffirmed. Bear case: Popeyes is still shrinking, and earnings quality is mixed. At 31.1x earnings as of the October 28, 2026 report, the stock is not cheap.

What to watch: Popeyes comparable sales recovery; pace of the $500 millione 2026 buyback
