02—Overview
MongoDB Financial Overview 2022–2026
Updated Nov 4, 2026MongoDB produced $505.1 milliona of operating cash flow in FY2026, up from just $7.0 million in FY2022, and it still reported a GAAP net loss. That gap is the story. The company is turning growth into cash well before accounting profit arrives, and the shift toward Atlas, its cloud database service, is what is driving it.
Revenue grew from $873.8 million in FY2022 to $2,463.8 millionb in FY2026. Atlas rose from 56% to 73% of sales over that span. Sales and marketing spending fell from 54% of revenue to 38%, and net loss narrowed from $306.9 million to $71.2 million. The trade-off is margin: gross margin was 72% in FY2026, versus 73% a year earlier, as cloud hosting costs climb with Atlas. Net ARR expansion dipped to 118% at the end of FY2025, then recovered to 121% in FY2026. Cash and investments reached $2.4 billion, and the company repurchased $400.3 million of stock during the year.
The market has paid up for this trajectory. The shares closed at $273.32c at FY2025 end, a $22.0 billion market cap, and at $371.33 at FY2026 end, a $29.9 billion market cap. With FY2026 EPS at -$0.88, there is no meaningful P/E. Investors are pricing cash generation and operating leverage, not reported earnings.
Recent Developments (Q1 and Q2 2027)
Growth accelerated and profitability arrived. Revenue rose 30% to $771.8 milliond in Q2 2027, from 25% in Q1 2027. GAAP operating income swung to $28.4 million from a $65.3 million loss. Gross margin reached 74%, up from 71%. Full-year guidance rose to $2.99 billion to $3.03 billion. Then on September 28, 2026, CEO CJ Desai resigned. Dev Ittycheria returned as interim CEO, and the board added $1.0 billion to buybacks.
The bull case: remaining performance obligations hit $1,519.2 millione, up 91%, and customers reached 70,600. The bear case: leadership is unsettled during a CEO search, and securities litigation remains pending with no loss estimate. At $434.21 and a $35.0 billion market cap as of August 31, 2026, there is no meaningful P/E on -$0.88 annual EPS. That price reflects the quarter's strength, not trailing earnings.
What to watch: permanent CEO appointment; Q3 2027 revenue against the $756 million to $761 million guide
