Best Buy Financial Overview 2022–2026

Updated Nov 4, 2026

Best Buy's diluted EPS fell from $9.84 in FY2022 to $4.28a in FY2025, a 56% drop in three years, yet the company still earned $1.07 billion in FY2026. The core thesis: this is a post-pandemic reset that appears to have bottomed. Sales have stopped shrinking, and the largest earnings drags are now one-time charges rather than operating weakness.

The long arc is stark. Revenue slid from $51.76 billion in FY2022 to $41.69 billionb in FY2026, with comparable sales falling 9.9% in FY2023 and 6.8% in FY2024. Then the trend flipped: FY2026 revenue edged up from $41.53 billion, and comparable sales grew 0.5%. Operating income rose to $1.39 billion from $1.26 billion, even after $190 million of restructuring and $171 million of impairments. Adjusted EPS reached $6.43, versus $6.37 in FY2025. Gross margin improved to 22.6% in FY2025 from 22.1%, helped by services and memberships.

The balance sheet is steady. FY2026 closed with $1.74 billionc in cash against $1.18 billion of long-term debt, and the company returned $1.07 billion to shareholders. The market has priced in the damage: the stock closed at $85.86 on January 31, 2025, or 20.1x earnings, then at $65.10 on January 30, 2026, or 12.9x earnings. Momentum has continued, with Q2 FY2027 comparable sales up 4.1% and full-year EPS guidance raised to $6.70–$6.90.

Recent Developments (Q1 and Q2 2027)

Leadership turned over as results improved. CFO Matt Bilunas left on July 31, 2026, and Anne Bramman, formerly of Nordstrom, joins as CFO on August 19, 2026. Jason Bonfig succeeds Corie Barry as CEO on November 1, 2026. Operating margin rose to 4.3% in Q2 2027 from 2.7%, and Q2 revenue reached $9.78 billiond, up from $9.44 billion. Comparable sales accelerated from 2.0% in Q1 to 4.1% in Q2. Restructuring swung to a $6 million net benefit from a $114 million charge. Tariff refunds added $34 million in Q2, with $41 million more due in Q3.

The bull case: guidance rose, cash reached $2.26 billione, and marketplace and ads lift gross margin. The bear case: Q1 appliances fell 13.6%, Q2 International revenue fell 4.2%, and part of the margin gain is one-time refunds. At 17.9x earnings as of the September 3, 2026 report date, the stock is priced above its January multiple, not today's.

What to watch: Bonfig's four growth priorities after November 1; the margin once tariff refunds fade
